Information about Corono virus

March 13th, 2020

Dear players, officials, volunteers and visitors to the adidas Dutch International,

The escalations around Covid-19 have followed one another at a rapid pace globally, certainly since our last report.

Today, the BWF has decided to postpone/cancel all planned events from March 16th, 2020 to April 12th, 2020 ( decision BWF ). This means that the adidas Dutch International (8-11 April) will also be suspended. We think this is of course very unfortunate, but given the circumstances and the (health) risks for all of us, we fully support the decision taken by the BWF.

We will assess in consultation with Badminton Europe in the short term whether the tournament can be played later this year. This should of course fit into the international calendar. As soon as more is clear about this, everyone will be informed about how and when.

The organization committee

March 2nd, 2020

Dear players, officials, volunteers and visitors to the adidas Dutch International,

As you may have noticed Covid19 (the Corona virus) has also reached the Netherlands. Therefore we think it is important to inform you about the situation in the Netherlands on a regular basis. At his moment, only a few people have been infected in the Netherlands. The Dutch health authorities are closely monitoring the situation. So far, there is no reason for any major concern.

We follow the developments around Corona continuously, monitor the situation on a daily basis and have close contact with the national and local health authorities in the Netherlands. We will follow their directives. One advise we got already: if a player has or gets fever, he or she should refrain of playing. Even without having the Corona virus you are at risk in that case. And of course, if you come from or stayed at a place which is known as a hotspot of the virus it is advised to contact us.

At the moment there is no reason at all to postpone or even cancel our tournament. The preparations are well under way. During the tournament we will take all required precautionary measures and follow the instructions of our health authorities which will apply to all participants and visitors.

If the situation changes and health authorities would advise or order to cancel the tournament we will inform everyone as soon as possible through all the information channels we have.

For further information about the formal position of the BWF, and some Q and A’s see the BWF’s website.
